I headed out late yesterday afternoon to Cox Scrub Conservation Park hoping that the tiny bit of rain we had a couple of days ago was enough to fill in some puddles near the entrance to this park.
The puddles are a great attractant to the birds in the area and I was particularly hoping to see and photograph Beautiful Firetails. They are quite rare in the hills and are only found at a couple of locations. Luckily I managed to see 3 firetails and captured my first ever images of this species. Whilst they were not the images I was hoping for (the little buggers refused to land on the perches I put up for them!) it was still pleasing to get a photo or two.
#52 Brown-headed Honeyeater
#53 Beautiful Firetail
#54 New Holland Honeyeater (meh.. Adelaide Sparrows.
#55 Elegant Parrot (a nice if very timid visitor)
#56 Tawny-crowned Honeyeater (This behaved unlike a honeyeater by hopping across open ground to reach the water!)
